How much does it cost?

What grade levels can be served?

  • We can work with students from Kindergarten through 5th grade.

  • If you are needing higher levels of support, we have contacts with other tutors in the area who can serve you.

Do you follow a set curriculum?

  • We support Reading tutoring needs with resources from iReady, which is in use in classrooms across Gwinnett County.

    • This includes: printable worksheets, interactive games, and lesson plans aligned with iReady's curriculum.

  • We support Writing tutoring needs using the Simplify Writing Curriculum.

    • This includes daily writing lessons, differentiated grammar lessons, intervention materials, and resources for English Language Learners.

What type of reading instruction will be used?

  • Our reading instruction is tailored to individual student needs. We utilize explicit and systematic instruction using the Science of Reading and Multisensory methods, targeting:

    • Phonics: Building strong foundational skills in letter-sound correspondence and decoding.

    • Phonemic Awareness: Developing the ability to hear and manipulate individual sounds within words.

    • Fluency: Improving reading speed and accuracy through repeated readings and targeted practice.

    • Comprehension: Building strong comprehension skills through a variety of strategies, such as summarizing, questioning, and visualizing.

    • Vocabulary Development: Expanding vocabulary through direct instruction, reading widely, and using context clues.

How do you support writing instruction?

  • We help students develop their writing skills in a clear, structured, and engaging way. The curriculum focuses on making writing accessible and straightforward while building a foundation of strong writing skills.

    • Foundational Writing Skills: Sentence structure, grammar and punctuation, and basic paragraph structure.

    • Step-by-Step Writing Process: Modeling, Guided Practice, Feedback and Revision

    • Emphasis on Organization: Teaching students how to organize their ideas.

    • Variety of Writing Styles: Descriptive, Narrative, Expository, and Persuasive writing

    • Building Confidence & Independence: We want to make writing less intimidating!

    • Regular Assessment & Adjustments: Students are frequently monitored through informal assesments to gauge how well they understand the material. This allows us to revisit difficult topics or advance to more complex topics.

    • Small group tutoring fosters collaboration and peer learning in a supportive environment. Group sizes are typically limited to 3-4 students to ensure adequate individual attention.
